“In particular, the deal could quell Hollywood chatter that Netflix’s “Roma” should not have qualified for an Oscar because of its limited theatrical run,” said Allen Adamson, co-founder of the consulting firm Metaforce and adjunct professor at NYU’s Stern School of Business.“They can say, ‘We premiered our film on Hollywood Boulevard,’ ” Adamson said. “It allows them to legitimatize their content and get into the big leagues. Hollywood movies are the ultimate content.”
