Corporate mascots with racist origins have been dropping like flies over the last two days, with food brands like Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben’s, Mrs. Butterworth’s and Cream of Wheat announcing marketing revamps following anti-racist protests over George Floyd’s killing.Many of these companies have resisted calls to change their questionable branding for decades, but Allen Adamson, co-founder of Metaforce, says changing consumer culture and the power of social media have made it impossible for the companies not to evolve.
